I can’t even believe I’m reporting on this, but it seems that this group called One Million Moms is going to boycott ABC’s upcoming tv show “Muppets”. Yes you read that correctly, a bunch of mothers out there have a problem with their kids watching Kermit and the gang because of it’s “mild adult humor”. Doesn’t this remind you of the Blame Canada scene from the South Park movie? First of all, IT’S THE F***ING MUPPETS. How R-rated do you think it could be? For the record, Spongebob and all those other shows have adult humor as well. Some people have to realize that a little “adult humor” doesn’t hurt anyone. The parents make it seem like there is going to be a massive orgy scene with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and a chicken. Here is what the group had to say:
“ABC hopes children watch the show and predict they would enjoy some of the humor, but 1MM would disagree. It is not the show it once was. ABC has ruined “The Muppets.” How many parents want to explain the punchline of sexually charged jokes to young children? Many parents unknowingly will let their children watch an episode only to find out its perverted nature too late, unless they are alerted ahead of time. 1MM and others need to get the word out to families to avoid this program at all costs.”
Cheers to One Million Mothers giving The Muppets more ratings when the show premieres on Tuesday on ABC! Let’s hope the show is actually good after I just defended it. I wouldn’t want people to not watch The Muppets because of adult humor…only if it sucks.
