It’s been awhile since i have done an opinion article. With these opinion articles, it’s clearly just my opinion. I would love to hear all of your opinions in the comment section below. This article will be about the trailers for 3 anticipated movies – Star Wars Episode VII, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. One movie is releasing next month, one will be in December, and the other next year. Yes, there are other anticipated movies coming out(Jurassic World, Terminator), but these 3 are the ones most people are talking about. Which trailer was the best? Let’s take a look at the movies below.
Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens
As you know the Star Wars Celebration took place this past weekend in SoCal. This is the place that Disney decided to reveal the latest teaser trailer for the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise. The trailer clocked in at about 1 minute and 50 seconds. The first time I seen the trailer, I nearly shed a tear. The first teaser trailer did a good job in not revealing too much, but this one was pure magic. You have Luke Skywalker narrating the first half of it. You see Darth Vader’s burnt helmet. You also get a glimpse at the new casts as well. The real icing on the cake was when Han Solo and Chewbacca went on the screen for the first time since 1983(Revenge of the Jedi). Brownie points for having the Millennium Falcon fly into the exhaust of an abandoned Star Destroyer. The Stromtroppers also have an updated look(including that baddass chrome tropper). If you weren’t excited for this movie to begin with, this trailer will make you feel opposite.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Sorry Warner Bros, but the first trailer really didn’t excite me. It just seemed very dull and boring to me. I was more excited hearing Jesse Eisenberg’s voice as Lex Luthor in the trailer than seeing Ben Affleck as Batman. No disrespect to Affleck since i’m sure he will do fine as Bruce Wayne, but the trailer didn’t really cut it for me. Then again it is a teaser, but shouldn’t the teaser excite you just as much as the first full trailer since this is the first time we’ve seen anything? Surprisingly, i was one of the few that enjoyed Man of Steel. I think Henry Cavill did a good enough job playing Superman. Yes, we did see Batman and Superman having a stare-down at the end of the trailer. We did also get a cool line from Batman asking Superman if he bleeds, but…that was about it. I don’t expect this movie to be very great, it just seems more like a setup for the Justice League film(Wonder Woman is in the film, and many more are rumored as well). As much potential as this movie has to be good, the trailer seemed average to me. And this isn’t the type of film to have an average type of trailer.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron
I do have to say that i thought the first trailer for The Avengers: Age of Ultron was just as good as the Star Wars Episode VII one. You get to see your favorite superheroes and you get to meet the newest villain: Ultron. In the film, Ultron is created by Tony Stark(even tho in the comics it was Hank Pym). The fact that Disney owns Marvel now, they got to play a very epic version of the song “I Have No Strings” from the Pinocchio film. That was one of the smartest choices i have ever seen since Ultron(just like Pinocchio) was created by man and pretty much turned into something very human like. We get great shots from each superhero, but the showdown between the Hulkbuster and The Hulk was just insane. The movie seems very dark, but not too dark(I’m talking to you Batman V Superman). To me, this trailer was great because of the choice of song and the great action shots of The Avengers.
If you made it this far, then i’m sure you can tell that Batman V Superman won’t be winning this fight. There is still hope that the next trailer will be better, but i just have a bad feeling about that movie. Something a trailer should never make you feel. The three way fight comes down to two- The Avengers vs Star Wars. It’s nostalgia vs what’s current. You can say that the Marvel films are the Star Wars of it’s time. Honestly, to say that one of these trailers are better than the other would be wrong. They are both very, very perfect. Now we will have to see which one of these will be the better movie. It’s pretty much a given that The Avengers and Star Wars(even though it comes out in December) will be the two biggest movies of the year. No question. It’s a great time to be a movie fan this year. So what was your favorite trailer this year?
