Ok as you know, 2015 will be a HUGE year for movies. Two big movies off the bat- The Avengers: Age of Ultron(May) and Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens(December). If you have a sequel to The Avengers(which was one of the highest grossing movies of all time) and another entry to the Star Wars series come out the SAME YEAR, that automatically makes it a huge year. I am about 110% sure that one of those movies will rule the year of 2015. Yes, Star Wars comes out in December so it technically won’t be able to make all of it’s money in 2015(it’ll be 2016), but you get my point. Those two movies will break the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time FOR SURE. But, those two movies aren’t the only ones coming out next year – below i give you my first official yearly preview!
Ok, what would you pick as the third most anticipated movie of 2015? For most people, it’s Jurassic World(June). Everybody loves the original Jurassic Park. It’s been 14 years since we last got a Jurassic Park movie, and to be honest, Jurassic Park 3 sucked ass. So just like Star Wars fans, Jurassic Park fans are ready for their franchise to come back strong! Jurassic World will also have Chris Pratt coming red hot off of Guardians of the Galaxy. 2 franchises in 2 years? Kudos Chris. Another film i am very excited for, Furious 7(April). We all know this will be Paul Walker’s last film. It’ll have the same effect as when Heath Ledger died before The Dark Knight was released in theaters. I am hoping it will be a great film(the trailer was awesome) and honestly the franchise has been on a roll. Add Jason Statham and you can’t go wrong. I am not the biggest James Bond fan, but expectations are very high for Bond 24(November). A lot of people seem to love Daniel Craig as 007. The last two entries both have higher than 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s incredible. In my opinion, these three movies will be the most hyped(other than Avengers and Star Wars).
For every good movie that comes out, there are 5 bad ones. These are the movies i am expecting to tank. By tank i mean – doesn’t make as much money as expected, horrible reviews, fans hate it, etc. The first movie i pick(which hurts me) is Terminator: Genisys(July). Yeah i know, Arnold is back. Honestly that doesn’t mean shit. Arnold was in Rise of the Machines and i thought that movie was terrible. The last Terminator movie that was released SHOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT, but it wasn’t. Sorry Christian Bale. So let’s see – the last Terminator Arnold was in sucked, the last Terminator movie in general sucked, and you have a plot that will change the past movies? Yeah, sounds like a mess and I’m expecting it to fail. I’m hoping it will be awesome but i can’t get too excited about it. Let’s hope i’m wrong with this one. Another movie im expecting to tank is the Wachowskis’s Jupiter Ascending(February). Yes, it has Channing Tatum who is on a role this year. But even that won’t save it. The movie was supposed to be released this year, meaning the movie is done. They realized people weren’t hyped for it so they pushed it back. If it turns out to be what they are calling it, “The Matrix meets Star Wars”, then sweet. The movie may not turn out to be bad, but if i could bet money on it, the movie will be a financial flop. It just doesn’t have the hype built up. They only have 3 months left to do SOMETHING with it. The next movie that i think will fail will surprise most of you, Ted 2(June). The first one was ok, nowhere near a classic in my opinion, but doesn’t deserve a sequel. Who can honestly say that they care what happens next to Mark Wahlberg’s character and his talking bear? Also let me remind you that this year hasn’t been a good one for Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane. Transformers:Age of Extinction was probably the biggest piece of shit to hit the theaters this summer and MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West flopped. Put those two together and you have a sequel that nobody really needs. I expect this movie to make a lot of money, but it won’t be as good as the first…which wasn’t even really all that good.
All in all, 2015 will be a huge year for movies and will probably be one of the most highest grossing years of all time. I think the month of May will have the most positive rated moves(The Avengers, Mad Max, and Tomorrowland), while August will have the worst(The Fantastic Four, Goosebumps, Sinister 2, and Hitman: Agent 47). I am looking forward to the NWA biopic in August tho.
The movies that i think will be positive- The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Jurassic World. American Sniper. Furious 7. Tomorrowland. Ant-Man. Bond 24. Finding Dory. The Hateful Eight. Mission Impossible. Inside Out.
The movies that i think will be negative- Jupiter Ascending. Amityville. Ted 2. Insidious 3. Goosebumps. Pirates of the Caribbean. Terminator: Genisys. Fantastic Four. Sinister 2.
