McFly Rants: Johnny Depp, what are you doing?

For the record, Johnny Depp is my favorite actor of ALL TIME. It hurts me to even write this article. I honestly feel that no other actor has as much range as Johnny Depp. Someone who i feel can one day surpass him, James Franco. Anyways, Mr. Depp is known for being Edward Scissorhands, Jack Sparrow, Ed Wood, and a whole lot more. He is also known for his collaborations with Tim Burton. At one point people thought “CAN HE DO NO WRONG?”. Well the answer to that is yes, he can do plenty wrong. His latest track record has not been his best streak of movies. The Lone Ranger, Dark Shadows, The Tourist, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides are pretty much all shit. Even his “ok” movies are better than a lot of other movies out there(Public Enemies, Secret Window, From Hell). What i’m trying to say is, what happened to the Johnny Depp we all loved so much? Nightmare on Elm Street, Cry-Baby, Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, Donnie Brasco, Chocolat, Blow, Finding Neverland, the first two Pirates movies, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Sweeney Todd. The point i’m trying to make is, Johnny Depp has cemented his legacy in Hollywood. There is NO denying that, but do you really want the best thing you have done in the last 4 years to be a cameo in the movie adaption of 21 Jump Street? Didn’t think so. I know he still has what it takes to make a classic film like he has done many times in the past. From 2014-2016, he has 5 movies lined up(Transcendence, Mortdecai, Into the Woods, the new Pirates movie, and the new Alice in Wonderland). Let’s hope Mr. Depp gets his career back on track! i still want to see him win his first Academy Award very soon. Thank you for reading.
